THE TYRANID HIVE - BACKGROUND

The planet was in the later stages of the invasion. There was no hope of saving Xahn. The Tyranids had already sliced their way through the planet's resistance like steel through butter. The Tau Ethereal Caste and his 3 squads of fire warriors were getting surrounded by the advancing Tyranids. There was hope of survival still. The Caste and his fire warriors were waiting on a Tau transport rescue them from the doomed world. 2 broods of 5 Termagants emerged from the planet's vegetation, scurrying towards the Tau. They opened fire on the advancing bugs, taking 2 of the chitinous bastards down. 6 genestealers emerged from the where the termagants revealed their presence. Eventually the termagents reached the Tau on the hill they were firing from. This is where worse came to worse for the Tau. The Tau had already lost many when the Tyranids fired their weapons from a distance earlier. The 6 genestealers managed to get into close range, but 5 were killed by the struggling Tau. The termagants eventually killed the Caste. The fire warriors, fleeing in fear of being caught by the bugs were slain by the Tyranids whom killed their leader.
This wouldn't be the last the galaxy has heard from Hive Fleet Curruid.
