Current position

Trevor Eddolls is chief consultant and chief analyst for iTech-Ed (www.iTech-Ed.com), a company he founded in 2004. The company provides a source of highly-technical information and expertise for people using IBM mainframes, servers, the Internet, mid-range computers, and PCs.
Previously, he worked for a company called Xephon Inc (www.xephon.com) for 18 years and continues to edit a large number of their publications. The work makes use of his in-depth knowledge of mainframe computing, network communication, and all versions of Windows and Linux PCs.
During those 18 years, he edited their weekly newsletter entitled News IS. He has also (at different times) edited more than ten of the technical computer-related journals Xephon published, including MVS Update, Oracle Update, and NT Update. He is currently responsible for the collection of articles and editing for seven technical journals.
The work involves establishing and maintaining relationships with potential authors from around the world. Then finding articles of a suitable technical standard, applying house styles and making them intelligible, and placing them in a PageMaker document ready for printing. It also involves collecting relevant news stories from a variety of media for inclusion in the news section of the journals. Finally, each issue is sent to the printers, and a copy is exported as an Acrobat (PDF) file ready to go on Xephon's Web site.
Additionally, Trevor was responsible for a weekly Web-based technical newletter called Mainframe Week. This required a good working knowledge of HTML and JavaScript.
Trevor has experience in training people to use computer hardware and software, and has also trained people to understand the technical information contributors are writing about. He has looked after junior staff and written references for ex-employees.
Trevor’s opinions on computer industry-related events are often sought by journalists and published in the trade press, eg Computing and Computer World.
Trevor Eddolls also regularly chairs and is an experienced speaker at technical conferences held in the UK and Europe. In addition to work published by Xephon, he has had three books published elsewhere. These are: VM Performance Management, published by McGraw-Hill; Introduction to VM, published by NCC Blackwell; and ASO: Automated Systems Operations for MVS, also published by McGraw-Hill. He has also had numerous articles published in a variety of journals - including US-based ones.
In addition to using PageMaker, Trevor is completely familiar with Microsoft Office on both Macs and PCs. He created his own Web site over four years ago (www.eddolls.com), and has maintained it since then - giving him a good working knowledge of Web-related software and basic HTML and JavaScript. He is an experienced user of many other software products including Jasc Software's Paint Shop Pro and Macromedia’s Flash.
His current annual salary, including pension, is around the £60k mark.

Trevor offers an exceptional range of technical and management skills.
He has a thorough knowledge of working with PCs and the Internet, including problem-solving experience. He is familiar with the workings of a wide variety of computers (including mainframes and those running Linux). He is a skilled user of a variety of application programs (listed elsewhere). He understands how Web sites can be used, and has developed his own Web site and still supports the Xephon Web site. His opinions are sought regularly by journalists for inclusion in their articles.
He was recently interviewed by the Canadian Information Processing Society, and a copy of the interview is also on the NPA Web site.
He has presentation skills. In addition to giving presentations on a variety of topics, lasting from half an hour to three days, Trevor has also successfully chaired many international conferences and meetings. Trevor is usually thought of as being "good at explaining things", and has carried out much in-house training.
The other aspect of Trevor's excellent communication skills are shown by the numerous articles he has written and the three technical books he has had published.
Trevor's leadership skills and experience can be seen from his work as a school governor and trustee of an educational charity. He was chairman of governors at a local primary school for three years. Trevor has written a number of references for ex-employees. He is considered to have good people skills.
Trevor is well-organized and able to work to deadlines. This is clearly illustrated by the number of publications that he is responsible for producing each month. He is flexible in his working, and well able to pick up new skills as they are required. He obviously has a thorough understanding of written English.
