Won't It Lead To Legalizing Marriages
With Children Or Animals?
A common response to the legalization of Civil Same-Sex Marriage is that it will lead to people marrying children or animals. This is laughable on its face since marriage is a legal contract and children and animals are prohibited from entering into legal contracts. This response is simply a scare tactic with no legal or logical basis. It, like the extremist claims of anti-Mormons, is designed to shed more heat than light in the debate and those raising it are unfortunately often intent on keeping the debate on an emotional basis of fear, like the antis, rather than a logical one allowing for rational positions and conclusions.
