Screen name: elisha speaks Biography: Elisha Marie Hale was born on January 12th, 1971 in Liverpool, England, to Anthony and Christine Hale. Her family was always one of acting, her father being a cast member at a local theatre and her mother teaching drama at a local high school. The two of them had met on the set of a play early on in their careers, and they shared a whirlwind romance before finally settling down to marry once they both had their steady jobs. Due to Christine's passion for teaching and children, it was only a matter of time before she would begin to want a child of her own. It took a lot of persuasion, and even a few years, before Anthony deemed himself ready to be a father, and so it was then that they began the process of trying to conceive the child who would be their first of three, but only daughter. Not long after Elisha was born, it became clear that the young girl had inherited a passion for the stage and for acting in general. While her mother was more than pleased to teach her the basics of the art, her father was getting her small, or sometimes even large parts in his plays suitable for a girl of her age. She was a natural on stage, making both of her parents very pleased with themselves. Going through her school years while also acting had its difficulties, but it was all worthwhile in the family's mind and Elisha enjoyed herself greatly. It was in high school, however, where Elisha discovered what her true passion would be- screenplay writing. She'd been an incredibly creative girl growing up, filled with outlandish ideas and envisioning dark scenarios in her head. She entered her high school intended to be the star of all the plays, but instead what she realized was that she enjoyed being behind the scenes just as much- if not more. During her senior year, the students were given the opportunity to write their own one act play. Each member of the drama society wrote their own, and the department was to choose the best one to further expand on and make happen. Elisha excitedly submitted a play- one that would later become From Dusk Til Dawn when she revisits it at an older age, but ultimately it was not her work that was selected. The department told her it was an amazing script, but they didn't feel it would be appropriate for the high school setting. It was then that she realized it would be better on the big screen anyway, that the kind of ideas she wanted to put into action were ones that belonged in movies with sets and effects and stunts and gore. She carried on this passion to her college years, in which she attended the University of London to help pursue her dream of working in the film industry. Through those four years she was highly involved both behind the scenes and on the stage of all the university's productions, and she gained a bit of a name for herself in her area. By the time she graduated, Elisha had several story ideas for movies that she would use throughout her professional career. Wanting to get the full extent of the success many Hollywood directors had, she went ahead and made the move to California. It was then that she began to work on making Reservoir Dogs happen. It was a tough fight, getting a company to take the project under their wing that wouldn't also butcher her words in the process. She'd almost given up hope when she finally found a production company willing to support it, and then casting and work went underway. It was an immediate cult hit, and even had some blockbuster success. After the success of Reservoir Dogs, Elisha then had several companies approaching her to take on her next project, but she chose to stick with that same small one that had faith in her work from the beginning. Not long after, she went on to do Pulp Fiction, which was just as successful if not more. Since then it seems that she's been a non-stop movie making machine, putting out a new brilliant film every few years, each with an amazing cast that she grows close with every time. Credits: Here!
