biography: Corely Monroe was born in Chicago to an average enough family. His mother was a professor of theater and his father a tax attorney. He grew up striving for average things like getting a starting position on the school's soccer team. Of course coming from the Monroe family meant you had a taste for the performing arts and Corely wasnt't an exception to the rule. Acting was never his calling but music was something that spoke to him. It seemed that every instrumnt he touched held his interest. Guitar, piano, trumpet, bass, drums-- he was happy to try it all and practice whenver he had the time. True to his suburb roots, Corely never worked a day in his life. His parents provided for him and he was happy to coast by. However, when his younger sister Brianne elected to pursue acting as a career at age 12, he found himself rooted up from his friends, school, and garage band, and planted in LA with his sister and mother at age 17, having to finish his senior year at a new school.

The culture shock took a while for Corely to get past but once he accepted where he was and that he wasn't going to get to leave he began to dig his heels into California. Corely ended up being left to his own devices while his mother and sister chased after her movie star career. It suited Corely just fine who was feeling rather displaced and ignored. He took solace in the LA music scene and it was with a fake i.d. and a lot of freedom that he found a group of friends he could fit into an a new found project to help him take his mind off Chicago.

After several months of brainstorming and jam sessions Corely developed a new idea for a band that couldn't quite be paralleled to anything else he had heard. It was an hommage to a variety of sounds and genres. Initially it started with covers which reinvented British pop in the style of The Smiths and Belle & Sebastian but over time it evolved.

Obviously as Corely and his bandmates aged their music matured and they hit their stride after several years of achieving only minimal fame in LA. Many of their songs have been featured on hit T.V. shows and their tours have extended from the West coast of the US to international venues all over Europe and even the Middle East. Corely has gained fame through his relationships with several prominant actresses and his few guest starring roles on various T.V. shows like One Tree Hill, The O.C., and Gossip Girl.
