Russell Police Department Check Alert System
The City of Russell Police Department sponsors a "Check Alert System." This system is a quick way to alert area businesses of suspicious and criminal activity involving personal checks,
business checks and some credit card fraud..
The main purpose of the alert is to notify the businesses of stolen or mislaid checkbooks, forgeries and stolen or lost credit cards within the community.. It can also be used for suspicious activity
such as quick-change artists. The Russell Police Department is the only participant of the Check Alert System that can activate the system.
The "Check Alert System" is organized in a "calling tree" format. Fifty-six, (56) local businesses participate in the "Check Alert System". Also participating in the
"Check Alert System" are the Russell County Sheriff's Office, to notify county businesses, and the Russell Chamber of Commerce.
