 Played By: Ed Westwick Voice: Chuck Ragan Birthdate & Age: October 24, 1985 & 23 Screen name: john and the whale Biography: John was born in San Francisco to Geraldine, daughter of a successful business tycoon, and Mark, captain of a tuna boat. The family kept a modest apartment in San Francisco proper but Mark spent most of his time out in the bay with his fishing team. John spent most of his summers and breaks on the boat with his father, learning the fishing trade and spending long trips deeper out at sea. Geraldine typically stayed ashore to be with John when he was in school. After he graduated high school, John spent several years with his father before enrolling in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music to study guitar performance, an interest he'd picked up from listening to old folk records with his mother and from learning to play harmonica from one of the fishermen on his father's boat. Drawing from their stories and his own feelings on the world he was exposed to, John began writing original songs, performing them around campus and on summer tours before recording and releasing a studio album in 2008. Personal music endeavors took a back seat to his studies until he was able to graduate in May of 2009 with a Bachelor of Music. In the interim, John released a live recording of a show he played in San Francisco, debuting some new material that wasn't on his album. During his time in college he toured extensively when he could, soaking up the experience of traveling to begin working on a new album, set to be released in late summer 2009.
