Current position

Trevor Eddolls is currently MD for iTech-Ed Ltd (www.iTech-Ed.com), a company he founded at the beginning of 2004. The company provides a source of highly-technical information and expertise for people using IBM mainframes, servers, the Internet, mid-range computers, and PCs. As well as writing articles for IT publications (www.zJournal.com and www.arcati.com) Trevor has continued to produce White Papers and internal documentation for a number of software vendors. Until recently, Trevor edited seven of the Update publications marketed by Xephon Inc (www.xephonusa.com). The work made use of his in-depth knowledge of mainframe computing, network communication, and all versions of Windows and Linux PCs. It also used Trevor’s excellent knowledge of the use of English, and the facilities and features available with desktop publishing applications.

Additionally, Trevor was responsible for a weekly Web-based technical newsletter called Mainframe Week. He also designed and created Web sites to W3C standards. This required a good working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Trevor has a regular weekly blog at (Mainframe Update). These blogs are frequently referenced by other bloggers. He has contributed to a NaSPA podcast (feeds.feedburner.com/naspa).

Trevor’s editing experience includes a weekly newsletter entitled News IS. He has also (at different times) edited more than ten of the technical computer-related journals Xephon published, including MVS Update, Oracle Update, and NT Update.

Trevor’s opinions on computer industry-related events are often sought by journalists and published in the trade press, eg Computing and Computer World.

Trevor Eddolls also regularly chairs and is an experienced speaker at technical conferences held in the UK and Europe. In addition to work published by Xephon, he has had three books published elsewhere. These are: VM Performance Management, published by McGraw-Hill; Introduction to VM, published by NCC Blackwell; and ASO: Automated Systems Operations for MVS, also published by McGraw-Hill.



Skills offered

Trevor offers an exceptional range of editorial, technical, and management skills.

Trevor’s leadership skills and experience can be seen from his work as a school governor and trustee of an educational charity. He was chairman of governors at a local primary school for three years. He is currently chairman of the staffing committee at Hardenhuish secondary school, which is responsible for all aspects of employment within the school.

Trevor has conducted well over two hundred job interviews, as well dealing with dismissals and appeals, redundancy, and discipline matters. He is chairman of the governor’s performance management committee, which has given him considerable experience of appraising performance and setting realistic and challenging targets. Trevor has written a number of references for ex-employees. He is considered to have good people skills.

Trevor is also able to handle budgets and other financial constraints.

He has a thorough knowledge of working with PCs and the Internet, including problem-solving experience. He is a skilled user of a variety of application programs (including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Corel Draw, and Adobe PageMaker).

He has presentation skills. In addition to giving presentations on a variety of topics, lasting from half an hour to three days, Trevor has also successfully chaired many international conferences and meetings. Trevor has trained people in using Microsoft Office products, including Visio and Projects, and is a Microsoft Office Specialist Master Instructor (MOS MI).

The other aspect of Trevor’s excellent written English skills are shown by the numerous articles he has written and the three technical books he has had published.

Trevor is well-organized and able to work to deadlines.



Personal information

Trevor was born on 11 February 1953. He is married and has two grown-up daughters.

Trevor has an arts degree (BA) and is a qualified teacher. He is also a qualified first aider and a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists. He has 11 'O'-levels and 3 'A'-levels. He has over 25 years experience in all aspects of computing and management.

He is chairman of an educational trust at a local secondary school. He is also a governor at the school and chairs the staffing subcommittee.



Previous employment

2004 - present: Managing Director of iTech-Ed.
1986-2004: Senior consultant and analyst with Newbury-based Xephon
1982-1986: Consultant/lecturer for Reading-based Protocol International. He wrote and delivered IBM-related operator and management training courses.
1979-1982: Operator, then Ops Support Analyst for Milton Keynes-based Scicon
1976-1979: Secondary school science and maths teacher.



Hobbies

Trevor enjoys playing squash, racket ball, and swimming. He likes spending time on his computer and playing his guitar. He enjoys juggling and is currently learning to ride a unicycle.

Trevor also helped with the parents association at his local primary school – where he was a close friend of Father Christmas for a number of years. He is a senior governor at a local secondary school and chairman of a charitable trust. He has had a number of his poems published and was one of the original broadcasters on Community Radio Milton Keynes. He also did a lot of work with, and appeared in, the promenade theatrical production of the history of Chippenham produced by Theatre in the Down.
