![]() Lucy Marie Davis Played By: Sommer Ata Birthdate & Age: 1/15/1986; 22 Screen name: bad luck luce Biography: If someone had asked Lucy how long she'd been interested in the music industry she would probably answer with "forever". A broad term, for sure, but it was really the truth for the Southern Ontario native. Growing up it wasn't too unheard of for her to be taken along with one of her two older brothers to local shows and be perched on one of their shoulders for the concert's duration or in some instances she even got to see some shows from the side of the stage. It was a whole other world for her, something new and entertaining to see. It was no wonder that it all rubbed off on her. Her first forray into working within the business came when she was about fifteen and tagging along with her oldest brother, Michael, who was in a local band that played a lot of shows in their area. It was probably a good thing that no one minded the teenager appearing at their practices and eventually their shows since she seemed to be there all of the time. At first she did little things for the band, like helping bring in the equipment from their van or making sure they had everything they would need backstage. Eventually she moved on to helping them set up the equipment and started to learn how each instrument worked and how everything was tuned. It wasn't too long before she was begging Michael to teach her how to play the guitar just for the sake of learning more about the instrument. He was glad to teach her something, although no one in their family imagined that it would become something that she wanted to persue as an actual career. As Michael's band began to gain recognition outside of their hometown and do more touring, Lucy quickly became their un-official merch and tech person. It might not have been the most glamorous job in the world but it got her out on the road (much to her parents' dismay at times) while she continued to learn how things worked and just learned about the music business as a whole. Eventually Michael's band would break up and both Davis kids would end up back home. But Lucy had gained a lot of experience and also had met a lot of people so being at home didn't really stop her from wanting to persue something more. She was pressured by her parents to concentrate on school and moving on to university since that was what her second oldest brother, Ian, was doing. Even David was toying with the idea of going back to school. She knew that school was important and put effort into it but doing something having to do with music was never too far from her thoughts. It probably didn't help that her short experience on the road led to people often hiring her as they came through town, mostly wanting her to work with their merch or do some guitar teching here and there. It might not have been front and center on a stage but at least it was something for the time being as high school winded down and she decided what to do after that. As university began, Lucy found herself working at one of the local venues. She mostly helped load equipment inside to set it up and also worked with some of the technical things when needed. She was even able to fill in as guitarist to some of the bands that came through that were either missing a member for whatever reason or who had a member out that was sick or something. The pay might not have been much but what she lacked in monetary funds, she gained in experience. A friend would eventually give her the chance to get out of their hometown to do some traveling as a fill-in guitarist since the original guitar player had decided to leave the band mid-tour. It was the chance Lucy thought she would only have once and knew she had to do, although at the time she was only about 19 years old. Her parents might not have been too thrilled with their only daughter leaving school but they relented a bit and let her go. To say it was a blast for Lucy was a big understatement. From the minute she hit the road with an actual band as an actual musician she was just taking it all in stride and experiencing it all. She was thrown to the wolves for all intents and purposes. But she managed to keep her feet on the ground and do pretty well. It was fun and she found that she craved being on the road and being on the stage. Luckily enough Lucy was invited to stay with the band after that first tour and she was with them for nearly a year and a half. After that year and a half on the road was up, Lucy found herself back at home doing the same thing she'd been doing before she left for the road. She continued to do tech work along with playing on the side, finding that it was just enough to pay the bills (although she was still living at home). Almost two years would pass before the latest opportunity dropped into Lucy's lap in the form of Jayda Barclay. The girls had grown up in the same neighborhood growing up and had actually been pretty good friends up until Jayda left town at age sixteen. After that communications had been few and far between, mostly in the form of quick e-mails back and forth. Lucy had kept up with Jayda, though it was hard not to when it seemed like she was everywhere all at once. She would get the call from Jayda, although the other girl wasn't really asking Lucy to join the band rather than telling her. Lucy couldn't turn down her friend even if she wanted to though and before she knew it, Lucy was signing a contract to be with Barclay until August with an option to continue on further if need be.
