What I did:
Find some game sprites on the internet. Oh hey, here's some!
Take them into photoshop. Go to the View menu, select "show", select "grid", and "guides". Go back to the view menu, select "snap too", select "grid". Now you may have the problem of your grid not matching with the pixels properly. You can change the size of your grid by going into the photoshop menu, select "preferences", select "Guides, grids, and slices". From there you can play around with the options until you get what you need. Then you manually drag the guides onto the grids, and when they're all there turn off grid (view>show>grid). Why go through all that? Well, for some reason the screen cap didn't work so well when I Capped the grid. Who knows, maybe you're version of photoshop/OS will do a better job than mine did. So, as you can probably guess, the next step is to make a screen cap of the sprite with the guides on it. I did this to make it a jpg format that could be uploaded for others to see. As far as I know, screen capping is the only way to save a file so the guides show. I have a mac, so hitting command, shift, and 4 will let you select the area you want to cap. I think with windows you hit "print screen".
I'm sure there are different ways of doing all that, feel free to skip steps or find another way of doing it.

If you want a certain sprite done, let me know and I can probably do it. I'll be updating this page as I go along, all for the hell of it, and love of embroidery. E-mail me at jaden_fi at hotmail dot com.
